The Challenge

High Profile Program Implementation was a Mystery

A manufacturer of high-end appliances in North America wanted to implement a new initiative that established a consistent way of doing business. The objectives were to drive sales growth and improve customer satisfaction. It involved process and technology changes across the organization country-wide.

The goal of this program was to elevate key consumer touch points, placing a distinct focus on delivering consistency, while building value throughout every phase of the purchase process.

This corporate initiative was considered high priority and was watched very closely by the Executive team. The program that began this journey did not clearly demonstrate progress.

When Executives asked when the current project would be completed or when future projects will occur, a concrete status could not be provided.

The client asked FarWell to help with current and future implementations. We were asked to build Executive confidence in the overall program. We did this by using data to demonstrate progress was being achieved at an acceptable pace.

How We Helped

Introducing a New Methodology to Gain Visibility and Predictability

A FarWell Senior Program Manager (PgM) refined program and project management best practices. The PgM introduced and coached team members on the Scrum methodology while setting up and administering a project management tool.

The concept of a Product Owner was a key improvement to move away from decision by committee.

This greatly improved the team’s ability to be more effective and efficient. The PgM not only managed the program but also performed project management work on as many as 5 projects at a time.

In partnering with the program team, managers and Executives, the PgM helped the client with strategy, coaching, communication and change management. New methodology coupled with new technology added visibility and predictability to the program and its underlying projects.

The Results

Confidence Restored, Program on Track and Acknowledgment Of a Job Well Done

With the introduction of Scrum, project management software and all of their artifacts and reports, FarWell provided a deep and definite understanding of the program/projects to the Executives and program team.

All involved parties now have extreme confidence of current status and forecasted work.

Executives are very pleased with the progress of the program and trust roadmap items will be delivered on time. After quickly establishing ourselves as a valued partner, FarWell was asked to bring on several additional Senior Project Managers and Project Coordinators to administer multiple programs/projects across several divisions. We continue to foster portfolio, program and project management methodologies our client uses across the organization.
